What I have Learnt From Miss England

I first joined the Miss England pageant to step outside of the box I had put myself in and that people perceived of me.

Never in a million years did I think I would learn so much about myself and so many lifelong skills, let alone be crowned Miss England 2nd Runner Up!

As a child I was very shy - I was academically gifted and decided from a young age I wanted to be a chemical engineer.

It wasn’t until after my studies that I realised I had shut off the “feminine” side of me in order to try to fit into the male dominated engineering world.

When I first started this pageant I got a lot of questions from friends asking “why would you need to do this pageant? You have a great degree and a brilliant career ahead of you”… and that’s precisely why I did it! To show that you are more than your brain and the line of work you are in, there are many sides to every person!

Through this pageant I have had to look inside of me and learn what really matters and how do I really want to help this world?

It’s challenged me in so many wonderful ways and forced me to step outside of my comfort zone: speaking publicly in front of audiences; posting about the work I do; walking and talking with confidence.

Travel has been a massive passion of mine for years. I am so excited that this pageant has given me the platform to start my campaign called #TinyHands, where I will be visiting schools and orphanages across the world to help the children of this world lead better lives❤️ Inspiring others to do the same, so that everyone putting in a Tiny helping Hand can make a huge difference to the world!

I can’t wait to see what the next chapter of my story leads to, but I know wherever it is this pageant has helped me grow and get to the place I need to be.
