WMU: Environment Forum Winner

On Day 6 of World Miss University, we were told to give a speech on how we can help save our Environment.

This is the speech that won me the Environment Award!

I recently learnt about @takethejumpnow from @bethlucyblogs , which gives 5 lifestyle changes and 1 initiative that will help to save our planet.

Here’s my speech:

“There are many aspects that are contributing to global warming.

I believe that in order to truly prevent it, we must all make lifestyle changes.

That’s why I strongly believe initiatives like “Take The Jump” are the way forward.

Take the jump is an initiative which encourages everyone to make 5 lifestyle changes that will help save our planet:

1. Keep your technology devices for 7 years, and repair things instead of buying new! Did you know that most technology devices are actually designed to last 7 years!

2. Stop using your personal car - 60% of journeys are less than 2 miles and can be cycled without even breaking a sweat!

3. Reduce your meat and dairy consumption - 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions are from the food system.

4. Dress retro - fast fashion emits more greenhouse gas emissions than the aviation and shipping industries combined! So if we all pledge to buy just 3 new items a year this could greatly reduce our environmental impact! There are many more ecological ways to buy clothes, from charity shops to renting, which are all becoming VERY popular in the UK right now!

5. Holiday local - Aviation accounts for 2% of the global greenhouse gas emissions! So think twice before getting on that flight!

Although we alone cannot make a big difference, collectively as one people, if we make these 5 lifestyle changes, we can help save our planet. “

And remember, Good Girls Go Global🌍
